Sep 26, Wire brush all the rust fron the threads in front of the nuts, then apply penatrating oil.
BTW, the rod-to-arm bushings were bound pretty bad to the rod.
Tapping the nut with a light hammer helps. Use an inch breaker bar and groan!! If all else fails heat the nut lightly with a propane torch, being careful not over heat the strut rod. Good luck. Nov 03, Much easier to remove the big front nut when the front end is resting on the ground. 1 1/16" and a 1" wrench are needed (IIRC).
Strut rods adjust caster, but if you don't get the rods back in the approximate position the toe will be way out also. Remove the big nut from the front of the strut rod, then unbolt the strut rod from the lower control treeclear.barted Reading Time: 6 mins.

Jul 21, Nov 03, Nov 03, Remove the struts from the lower control arms (beware-bolts from the top are pressed into the struts, remove the nuts from below), slide the rearward bushing on then reinstall the strut and install the front side bushings.
Tighten the strut rod at the control arm and adjust and tighten the front nuts on the bushings. Apr 22, 3) Remove the 2 bolts securing the Rod to the LCA.
19mm Wrench on the top of the bolt and 22mm Socket underneath to get the nut off. I used air impact which makes it easier but a good 1/2" drive ratchet will do. 4) Pull the thing out. After the 2 bolts and 1 nut are removed it'll come out.
